WHAT IS CASHMERE?

Cashmere is a luxurious natural fiber that is finer, lighter, stronger, and softer than sheep’s wool. It comes from the soft undercoat of cashmere goats, which grows during harsh winter conditions and is carefully collected in spring.
Because of its exceptional warmth, softness, and elegance, cashmere has long been regarded as a premium fashion material and is often referred to as “Soft Gold.”

Inner Mongolian cashmere accounts for approximately 40% of the global cashmere supply, making it the most widely used and trusted source worldwide.
Thanks to its superior softness, warmth, and luxurious texture, Inner Mongolian cashmere is highly favored by premium fashion brands in Europe — especially in the United Kingdom, France, and Italy — as well as in North America.
Although cashmere originally comes from goats in the mountainous regions of Kashmir in northern India, Inner Mongolia has become the world’s leading producer, while Mongolia contributes around 20% of global supply.
WHY IS CASHMERE SO EXPENSIVE?
Unlike wool, which is obtained by mechanical shearing, cashmere can only be collected by gently combing goats by hand. This delicate process takes place only once a year, typically between April and May, when goats naturally shed their winter undercoat.
In addition, cashmere is extremely rare. While one sheep can produce enough wool for approximately six sweaters, it takes the fiber from four to six cashmere goats to produce a single cashmere sweater. This limited yield is one of the key reasons cashmere is so valuable.
